I found this quote just a few minutes ago:
[Scientist and humanitarian Albert Einstein, when asked what weapons would be used in the Third World War: “I don’t know. But I can tell you what they’ll use in the Fourth — rocks.”]
How frightening a thought! I, like many, believe that the activities taking place in the Middle East right now, and the unrest in North Korea, could lead to World War III.
I have come across this Psalm quite a few times recently, and also heard that an 800 year old manuscript was recently found in a bog somewhere in the Middle East, and it was open to this Psalm. When the manuscript was buried, Israel had not been in existance for several hundred years, yet, someone was praying this very Psalm.
Psalm 83 is a plea, a prayer, a cry to the Lord to save Israel, to tear down her enemies, so that the Holy Land may be Holy for our Lord.
I ask that anyone who reads this, please add this Psalm to your daily prayers. I have added it, and soon hope to have it memorized, so that I can go throughout my day, praying it when I have a moment.
Psalm 83, NIV
1 O God, do not keep silent;
be not quiet, O God, be not still.
2 See how your enemies are astir,
how your foes rear their heads.
3 With cunning they conspire against your people;
they plot against those you cherish.
4 "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation,
that the name of Israel be remembered no more."
5 With one mind they plot together;
they form an alliance against you-
6 the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
of Moab and the Hagrites,
7 Gebal, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia, with the people of Tyre.
8 Even Assyria has joined them
to lend strength to the descendants of Lot.
Selah
9 Do to them as you did to Midian,
as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon,
10 who perished at Endor
and became like refuse on the ground.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 who said, "Let us take possession
of the pasturelands of God."
13 Make them like tumbleweed, O my God,
like chaff before the wind.
14 As fire consumes the forest
or a flame sets the mountains ablaze,
15 so pursue them with your tempest
and terrify them with your storm.
16 Cover their faces with shame
so that men will seek your name, O LORD.
17 May they ever be ashamed and dismayed;
may they perish in disgrace.
18 Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD—
that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.
Dear Lord,
Jeremiah 29.11 promises that you know the plans for us. You know the plans not just for each of us individually, but as a nation, and as a planet. I trust you completely Father. This is not a time to stress, become worried or bitter or fight a battle against men. This battle is one that's been going on since you declared Israel as yours, thousands of years ago.
I just trust in you Lord. Whatever the outcome of it, I know that you have had it under control since day one. You have our best interests in front of you. You haven't forsaken us from the beginning of time, and you won't now. Thank you Jesus for your promises and your plans for our future.
Amen
